“Migration and Media” at the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication of NYU in 2019 explored new scholarship on migration, and its depiction in the mainstream and social media. We covered how migrants use technology and media in their journeys and integration processes. The US-Mexico Border and the Refugee Crisis in Europe were our main foci, but students’ final projects took the class to borders and routes of migration emerging from South and Southeast Asia, Africa, and East Asia.
